Its DOODLE TIME!!! *ding ding*

So, since its off season for Caricatures now, and school has been in session for a while now, I wanted to show you what I do during class... apart from paying attention, taking good notes, and asking questions when needed (just like a good little student should)...

I doodle..... A LOT.

As a Matter of fact, the collection of doodles I'm about to show you are only about half of the doodles I actually do... But I assure you, I'm still doing awesome in all my classes lol

Here's a picture I drew while talking to a friend.... the heart design thingy up top was what she wanted to add to a tatoo. The bottom doodle was just a random face.

Here's a doodle of a pixie fairy I did after watching the Disney Movie "Tinker Bell" the night before... The movie was so cute!

This is the same character, only a little more realistic, and a little less pixie.

This one is called "Ryan was extremely tired and had randomness just coming out of his brain in a dreamlike state...." I mean, what the heck was I thinking when I drew that weird looking Sesame Street-like animal?

These next two here are a couple of kids in my World Civilizations class.... same for the two random faces above...

This guy is Ayuel Leek. He was one of the Lost Boys of Sudan in Africa. He got out of the civil war there and is now here in America. He and a couple other people involved had written a book about the experience there. If you want to know more about it, he recommended this website about it . Its absolutely fascinating and to be aware about things like that is an absolute must. He's such an inspiration, both as a person, and for a doodle.

This is my Professor for Sociology. She is an awesome instructor, and has extremely long hair. I've drawn her many times, but this was one of the only days I caught her actually smiling...

My professor of World Civilizations wasn't so lucky.... He's a good instructor too... just doesn't smile. Also notice that I drew this on the back of my World Civ. Journal.... yeah, I do that alot too....

See, here's one I drew on the back of my Sociology book... its
lion eyes. I think I may finish this doodle in the near
future....

Hey look, THERE'S A CAMEL! ----->>>

I also draw a lot on the covers of my notebooks as well... for instance, here's a tree on top of my Sociology notebook.

And here are even more classmates on my World Civ. notebook... notice the extremely odd way I wrote my name on that one....

I do that to all my journals! Oh, by the way, this is the o
nly doodle I've done in my math class.... see, I CAN FOCUS SOMETIMES!!!!

(even though its not like I'm not focusing while I'm doodling lol)

Yep, so that's all the good doodles... now, what to do for Thanksgiving........

"It's just a bunch of hocus pocus...."

You know, I just love it when you're watching a movie, and then you hear the line that has the title of the movie in it and you think, "FOUND IT!"
But anyway, I drew this last week while watching the movie Hocus Pocus... which was:

THE BIG HALLOWEEN SURPRISE!!!
(cue orange and black confetti)

... yeah, a lot less surprising when you tell them there's gonna be a surprise... anyway, I hope you like it.

I drew it on a paper bag because it gives you ground to go lighter and darker as well, so you can use the darker color of the paper bag so you get a middle ground. Its pretty neat when you play around with it.... I'm thinking about using up my father's cardboard from work... yeah.... sounds like a plan....

Advice to Dad: *hide your cardboard boxes*

Another day of SKETCHES!?!?!?!?!?

So, remember when I told you all about how I would go to the library and find a magical scanner that helps me to show the world what sucks the time out of my day?!

Well, how lovely is this?!

Not only I have pictures for you, I have MORE CELEBS!!! (thank god, I was sick of freaking myself out with the Marilyn Manson picture... I mean, its great and all... but its creepy lol)

All of these I did in the past two days, because I've been bored and cooped up in my room studying caricature portraits and such... A funny thing happens when you're inspired by one drawing... you keep going, and going, and going... For some reason the past three days I was reminiscent of this picture:

So, here you go!!! lol!

Ben Stiller

Jim Carrey

Marilyn Monroe

Dennis Rodman

Barbara Streisand

Alright, that's all for now!!! I'll have more soon! (And now that I have found a scanner, stay tuned for a special Halloween Surprise!!!.... God I sound like a salesman don't I?!)

Marolyn Manson... creeper....

I am SO sorry for not posting anything for a long while! I will soon! I'm planning on scanning some stuff at my local library, so you guys are in for a treat!!!

BUT for now... Check this picture out of Marilyn Manson... you know... that creepy guy with one blue eye that wears makeup all the time and makes music that has to do with everything dark.... he creeps me out. BUT, since he was the last contest for Caricatures in the 2009 season, I thought I'd go all out :D
Here you go! And enjoy the picture :D

Caricatures?! (YAY!)

This is when I clap for joy because I had two days off!!!! (believe me, with this midwest heat, its something to celebrate!) And since I had two days off, I decided to take it easy, and wait until the last minute to make a post about the best caricatures I did this weekend and the begining of this week! And don't worry, there are definately more to come!I was so glad when this guy sat down for me.... it was like a caricaturist's dream.... and the model's nightmare...
I asked the middle guy if he wanted his goggles up there, and he said, "ABSOLUTELY." (I never clearly grasped what that was all about...)
A little girl (one of the woman's nieces that was visiting the park with them) was actually yelling at me as if the picture was extremely insulting.... she was hillarious! But, it was like a tiny sista was trying to tell me off. She was like, "Auntie, that's sapose ta be you?! AW HECKS NAW!" only imagine a chipmonk saying it. It was so cute....

This couple didn't really know what they were getting into... but when I drew her first, she forced her husband to sit for me... and he kept falling asleep in the chair because he worked all that night before. I don' t think anyone could tell, because of his sunglasses, but I think that's why he thought I drew it so fast. Sleep always speeds time up...

I was definately suprised that the girl didn't get a re-draw... but she loved it! Probably because I acurately put her dog in it...

And get this... the guy with the KU gear on from head to toe... yeah... He's going to college, but not for KU. Weird right?!

Well, that's it for now. I will hopefully have more for you guys from this up and coming hot and busy weekend, so STAY TUNED! :)

Yesterday was a CRAPPY day...

Well, since technically it's 2:30, and people are usually asleep at this hour (except for me because I can't sleep... again...) I feel like this is the end of yesterday...

ANYWAYS, yesterday sucked. I did three drawings, i forgot my camera, and the contest that we were doing ( Drawing a caricature of Edward from the movie Twilight). Well, I was doing an awesome job at drawing it, until the rain came suddenly and washed all my 15 minutes of hard work away. And then, one of the henna art girls accidentaly dropped my box in a puddle of water. I had to dry off all my color sticks...
It was SUCH A HORRIBLE DAY.
So, what do I do when I get home? Well, I go on facebook and draw any face that pops up on the "News Feed" thing... because I need to practice. Plus, I wanted to get my caricatures to have more of a real feel to them, rather than a cartoon feel to them... for example:
These are my best friends BreAnne and Joe. See what I mean? I like this because I didn't use any pencil, only ballpoint pen, and, me being meticulous about EVERYTHING, it was so odd to just slap it on there. But I hope they see this... because Joe was complaining the other day that I've never really drawn him. Well, note to Joe... HERE YOU GO :)

Why I NEVER Eat Funnel Cakes...

So, before I say anything... MY WEBSITE IS UP! (http://www.theartofryanj.com/) You should so CHECK IT OUT!!! But now to the good stuff...

Well, they're just nasty... Funnel Cakes, I mean. I guess I look at funnel cakes and automatically think of gluttony. And since I work at an Amusement park, I see fifty million paper plates of it everyday, along with other sweet and nasty things like giant fudge bars and giant cinnamon buns and I just think, Ugh... why would ANYONE ever eat that?
But, The whole Walrus eating a funnel cake was a cute idea that one of my co-workers had, so I drew it. I like it especially because I decided to draw it on a paper bag...

I RECYCLED! :)

I feel sorry for that walrus though...

Get Up!

I am SO glad that I now have a BLOG here on blogger! By the end of this week though, I will have my own website up and you all can see more than just this! But, for now, enjoy this picture of James Brown being reincarnated into a rooster (you know if James Brown was anything, that's what he'd be)! I was drawing this while watching the movie "Soul Man," and this rooster, with a pattened James Brown Bob, came out. Wow, I can't believe that Bernie Mac and Isaac Hays are actually gone. May they rest in peace.
